I enjoyed this one.
If you liked Jumanji then you will probably find that you like this movie quite a bit. Both films share the same plot device; Children find a board game that transports them into the game. Cards are drawn that effect their fate and their s...

Zathura Quick Review
Jumanaji... in... SPAAAAAACE! A fun little film that I think the younger set will like a lot better than adults. Has so-so acting, with decent effects and kid-friendly plot.

suspenseful
by J. Berns (Salem, Or Usa)
I love this movie!! It is full of excitement from beginning to end....wondering what will happen when they push the button. My four year old grandson was enraptured by it also clear to the end...usually glued to my side. I would ask him if he wanted to watch it again...said no....but as soon as I turned it on...there he was again....he loved the astronaught...and kept going around saying "they eat meat, and we are meat!"....too funny

Pleasurable Movie
by Mysterious Mr Wong (U.S.A.)
A delightful movie for all ages. The actors did an outstanding job, even down to the annoying fights between the two brothers. It was chafe but added a certain authenticity between the siblings that most of us can relate to in our own experience. The movie kept my attention and I enjoyed it very much.

this is a neat kids movie
by R. Bagula (Lakeside, Ca United States)
When you see the couch burning in outer space you know this movie is
a kid's fantasy version of sci fi, but that doesn't
make the excitement and adventure any less!
Some really funny stuff goes on in this movie like the teenage sister freezing solid
and the robot that wants to kill the alien life-form Walter...
I enjoyed the movie actually more than Jumanji,
but that same kind of lesions are taught.
Stepped in what and didn't wipe your feet after...

Definitely a great view!
by B.J. (IL)
This is an absolutely great film, and I cannot say enough how enjoyable it is. The acting skills of the two main protagonists (the two brothers) were great, and those two boys really made me believe they were brothers. Josh Hutcherson's acting skills were absolutely great, and if you are a fan of him, then you will not be disappointed by this film at all. If you liked Jumanji, then you will like this film, but the thing that sets this apart is the universal themes such as sibling rivalry and family problems. The cast of characters really worked well together, and the Dax Shephard character (the astronaut) had a big surprise towards the end of the film. The universal themes to which I had referred is what made me as the viewer get invested with the characters and develop a connection with them. While Tim Robbins had a cameo role in this film he really did a good job with providing a good setting for the family situation.
One thing that I loved about this film was the combination of old fashioned special effects along with CGI. As a result, the film seemed realistic unlike CGI nightmares like the original "Hulk" film which made me get bored seeing how fake it was. After watching the special features and seeing how the film was made especially made me appreciate the hard work that all of the actors, most especially the two youngest ones, did in this film.
The sister character was great, and though Kristen Stewarts time in this film was short she still was enjoyable. I suppose it is quality over quantity with regards to her appearance.
To sum up, this film really made me look at things in my own life and see how the worst of times can either make or break us. The storyline and acting was great by everyone in this film, and this film is really deep and not empty fantasy movie.

Zathura [UMD for PSP] Summary
2 Squabbling Brothers Are Propelled Into Deepest Darkest Space While Playing A Mysterious Game They Discovered In The Basement Of Their Old House. On Their Fantastic Journey They Encounter Many Strange Creatures. Unless They Finish The Game & Reach The Planet Zathura They Could Be Trapped In Outer Space Forever. Studio: Sony Pictures Home Ent Release Date: 08/28/2007 Starring: Tim Robbins Jonah Bobo Run Time: 101 Minutes Rating: Pg
Zathura
, a smart and stylish kid's adventure, launches into action when Danny (Jonah Bobo) twists the key of a dusty science fiction game--a game that unleashes a localized meteor shower and wrenches Danny's house into orbit around a distant ringed planet, bringing Danny's brother Walter (Josh Hutcherson,
Kicking and Screaming
) and sister Lisa (Kristen Stewart,
Panic Room
) along. Soon a defective robot, a rangy astronaut (Dax Shepard,
Without a Paddle
), and an alien spaceship enter the picture. Only by completing the game can the kids return their house to its proper space-time coordinates, but the game board falls into the hands of some nasty, carnivorous lizards.
Zathura
has some obligatory emotional conflict and resolution between the two brothers, but that's pretty much beside the point; what makes
Zathura
a delight is the wonderful design, the skillful escalation of disasters, and the adroit direction of Jon Favreau (
Elf
), who is quickly becoming the go-to guy for mass-market movies with wit and timing. Some situations may be too intense for younger kids; Favreau ratchets up the suspense at a few points. Based on the book by Chris Van Allsburg (
Jumanji
). Also featuring Tim Robbins (
The Shawshank Redemption
).
